Starting the DVD Portfolio

• Open a new document in iDVD.
• Choose your theme.
• Before starting go to the iDVD menu—>Preferences—>Slideshow
—>Always add photos to DVD Rom.

Now your ready to start adding your portfolio contents.

After you have added photos to your slideshows make sure that you check the slide duration, and the settings box to make sure that add files to DVD Rom is check, and add title and comments is unchecked.(except for the Photoshop slideshow)

Add slideshows for the following:
• PTSI (16)
• Rule-of-Thirds (16)
• Natural Framing (16)
• Selective Focus (16)
• Studio (40)
• Painting with Light (20)


Slideshow=Photoshop

• Collage
• Damaged Photo(Before and After)
• Selective Color(Final 3 all on separate slides.)
• Custom Portrait(Original and Final, or Just Final.)
• Portrait Retouching Before & After(choose 1 to show what you have done.)

Slideshow=Scrapbooks

• All 17 Scrapbook pages(18 counting the cover)

You may also want to create an album in iPhoto that contains all of your favorite photos in it, and drag that to your iDVD portfolio as well. This will allow you to save all of your work.

Printing your Final Portfolio




• Add all of your scrapbook pages to iPhoto including your cover.

• Create a new album containing your scrapbook pages with cover.

• Organize your pages in the order you want them to print.

• Select all of your pages and go to FILE-> PRINT.

• In the first print window make sure that the paper size is set to letter.

• Look through your pages in the preview window to make sure nothing is being cut off.

• If anything is cut off switch the print size from Standard to 8 x 10 and recheck.

• If everything looks good click PRINT.

• In the next print window click on PDF->Save as PDF.

• Title it your last name and save it on your desktop.

• File share your PDF to my front computer in the PDF to Print Folder.

Painting your Custom Portrait

Start by adding a new layer below your lines layer.


Click on the gradient tool and choose the paint bucket. Set the color to white.




Add another layer above the lines layer and change it to Multiply.



Add a new layer above your base layer and change the mode to Multiply. This will be colored with the same color and be your shadows layer.


Add a new layer above your base layer and change the mode to Screen. This will be colored with the same color and be your Highlights layer.

Custom Portrait

Things to remember.

• Open Illustrator in the Applications folder

• Start a new document either portrait or landscaped.

• You must File–>Place your image into Illustrator not open it.

• Lock your picture layer.

• Add a new layer for different items in your drawing. Example: Face, Eyes, Teeth, Hair

• Lock layers as you finish drawing them.

• Start drawing your image.

• Shift+Command+A deselects the line.

• After completing all of your drawing move on to the next step.

• You must change the lines by Selecting all of your lines, and then going to the Brushes palette and Click where it shows below.


• Open the artistic-> Artistic_ChalkCharcoalPencil brushes.



• Choose "Charcoal Smooth"


• Now change the stroke to .25


Export your file to Photoshop.

Go to File->Export

• Change the Format to Photoshop. Then push Export.


• Change the resolution to High, and choose Flat image. Then push OK.


Open the exported .psd file in Photoshop.

Proceed to step 10 on the Custom Portrait.pdf file on your desktop.
