Starting the DVD Portfolio

• Open a new document in iDVD.
• Choose your theme.
• Before starting go to the iDVD menu—>Preferences—>Slideshow
—>Always add photos to DVD Rom.

Now your ready to start adding your portfolio contents.

After you have added photos to your slideshows make sure that you check the slide duration, and the settings box to make sure that add files to DVD Rom is check, and add title and comments is unchecked.(except for the Photoshop slideshow)

• Selective Color(Final 3 all on separate slides.)
• Custom Portrait(Original and Final, or Just Final.)
• Portrait Retouching Before & After(choose 1 to show what you have done.)

Slideshow=Scrapbooks

• All 17 Scrapbook pages(18 counting the cover)

You may also want to create an album in iPhoto that contains all of your favorite photos in it, and drag that to your iDVD portfolio as well. This will allow you to save all of your work.

Printing your Final Portfolio




• Add all of your scrapbook pages to iPhoto including your cover.

• Create a new album containing your scrapbook pages with cover.

• Organize your pages in the order you want them to print.

• Select all of your pages and go to FILE-> PRINT.

• In the first print window make sure that the paper size is set to letter.

• Look through your pages in the preview window to make sure nothing is being cut off.

• If anything is cut off switch the print size from Standard to 8 x 10 and recheck.

• If everything looks good click PRINT.

• In the next print window click on PDF->Save as PDF.

• Title it your last name and save it on your desktop.

• File share your PDF to my front computer in the PDF to Print Folder.

Painting your Custom Portrait

Start by adding a new layer below your lines layer.


Click on the gradient tool and choose the paint bucket. Set the color to white.




Add another layer above the lines layer and change it to Multiply.



Add a new layer above your base layer and change the mode to Multiply. This will be colored with the same color and be your shadows layer.


Add a new layer above your base layer and change the mode to Screen. This will be colored with the same color and be your Highlights layer.

Custom Portrait

Things to remember.

• Open Illustrator in the Applications folder

• Start a new document either portrait or landscaped.

• You must File–>Place your image into Illustrator not open it.

• Lock your picture layer.

• Add a new layer for different items in your drawing. Example: Face, Eyes, Teeth, Hair

• Lock layers as you finish drawing them.

• Start drawing your image.

• Shift+Command+A deselects the line.

• After completing all of your drawing move on to the next step.

• You must change the lines by Selecting all of your lines, and then going to the Brushes palette and Click where it shows below.


• Open the artistic-> Artistic_ChalkCharcoalPencil brushes.



• Choose "Charcoal Smooth"


• Now change the stroke to .25


Export your file to Photoshop.

Go to File->Export

• Change the Format to Photoshop. Then push Export.


• Change the resolution to High, and choose Flat image. Then push OK.


Open the exported .psd file in Photoshop.

Proceed to step 10 on the Custom Portrait.pdf file on your desktop.

Portrait Retouching

- Color correct the skin using a curves adjustment layer

- Use the color sample tool to select 2 highlights(make sure it is on 11 x 11 sample)

 - Add a curves adjustment layer.

- Make sure the Cyan is 1/3 to 1/5 of Magenta - Red in the curves palette will correct Cyan

- Magenta can usually be left alone-base color - Green corrects Magenta

- Yellow should be slightly higher than Magenta - Blue corrects yellow

-Corrected Example 
     Cyan 8%
Magenta 24%
Yellow 26%

It should look good to your eye when you are finished.

Merge Layers when finished

- Blemishes

- Use retouching tools-clone stamp, patch tool, healing brush.

- Sharpen the Eyes using an unsharp mask smart filter

- Duplicate the background layer
- Choose Filter -> Convert for smart filter
Then
- Choose Filter -> Sharpen -> Unsharp Mask(zoom in on the eyes)
- Use the layer mask to only affect the eyes(fill the layer mask with black, and then paint with white over the eyes.)

Merge layers when finished

- Skin Softening using a gaussian blur smart filter

- Duplicate the background layer
- Choose Filter -> Convert for smart filter
Then
- Choose Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur(concentrate on the skin)
- Invert the layer mask to only affect the skin(fill the layer mask with black, and then paint with GRAY over the skin.)
Merge layers when finished

- Comb Hair using the Clone stamp

- Whiten Teeth using a Hue Saturation Adjustment Layer

- Add a Hue Saturation adjustment layer
- Turn up the lightness
- Fill the layer mask with black, and paint over the teeth with white.

- Cropping - Crop tool

- Vignette 

- Levels adjustment layer-turn up the black slider.
- Create a oval selection around your subject.
- Right click in your selection and choose Feather.(250 pixels)
- Fill the selection on the layer mask with black to hide the levels adjustment.

Damaged Photo

Scan in or use one of my damaged photos.

Get on from me buy logging into my dropbox on my front computer.

Desaturate your image to remove any color from a Black and White Photo. Don't use this for a color photo.

Use the retouching tools to fix all of the cracks, scratches, or imperfections.
• Clone Stamp (use Option to define a source point)
• Healing Brushes
• Patch Tool

Goto Filter->Noise->Dust and Scratches to get rid of the small imperfections. Leave the radius at 1 pixel and the threshold at 0.

Straighten your photo using the Measure tool found under the Eye Dropper tool.
• Drag a line on the bottom edge of your photo.
• Goto the Image Menu then to Image Rotation then Arbitrary. Hit OK.

Cut off the old border using the rectangle marquee tool then select inverse.

Add a new border using the Rectangle Shape Tool.

Add a Photo Mask Adjustment layer to put the Sepia Tone back in.

Put your Before and After on 1 page to turn in.

Paint on the layer mask with black to hide the Black & White effect.

Digital Scrapbooking

  1. Create a New Image/File (10" x 8" or 8" x 10")
  2. Add Photos
  3. Create Background Paper to complement photos
  4. Create Photo Mats
  5. Add Titles and Journaling(one per picture)
  6. Add Drop Shadowing
  7. Add Ready-made Embellishments, if desired(one per picture)

Digital Scrapbooking

The first photo assignments now need to be scrapbooked.

The requirements are as follows:
• Need at least 2 pages of scrapbooks per assignment.
• At least one photo per page.
• At least 1 text block per page.
• At least 1 embellishments per page.

The cottagearts.net folder is located in the Macintosh HD > Users > Shared folder.

To get to it, you need to go to the applications folder and find Adobe Bridge, put it in your dock, and open it.

Once it is open, click on computer in the menu at the left, then click on Macintosh HD, then users, then shared, then cottagearts.net.

You will find different backgrounds by looking through the various folder in there.

Just double click on them to open them in Photoshop.

Use macro for at least 4 of your photos.

You will be using STRUM on your one best of each category and turning them in.

Start by opening a curves adjustment layer.


















Then click where you see the dots in the picture to the right.



















Then click on the gray eyedropper.



Go to Window–>Info.

















Move around your image until all three of your C,M,Y values are close, then click on that spot to set your neutral tones.
